Mission and Vision Statement

The purpose and passion of Hawai`i Theological Seminary is:

  • To equip Christians to be transformed by the power of our relationship with God and with each other for service in the church and in the world;
  • To enrich the mind and heart through the thoughtful and disciplined study of God?s Word, the Bible, for daily living and effective ministry;
  • To engage reflectively and critically with our culture, for positive shaping and influence in a world that God continues to love deeply;
  • To express creatively and joyfully our lives in Jesus Christ through imaginative, celebrative, and artistic ways.

The vision of Hawai`i Theological Seminary is to equip servant-leaders for service throughout Hawai`i, the Pacific islands, Asia and beyond. Being in Hawai`i, we have a particular focus on developing Christian leaders among the indigenous Hawaiians and local residents of Hawai`i. We are an inter-denominational, welcoming all people.

Core Values

  •  Truth in understanding and practice; . Ethics of the highest level in Christian ministry and practice;
  •  Dignity for each Christian as divinely gifted to bless church and society;
  •  Service as a divine calling for each Christian; and
  •  Unity among Christians as an emphatic element of God?s will.

At Hawai`i Theological Seminary, students serve the Lord in a multicultural setting while they pursue their education. We seek to serve students in many ways:

by providing a biblical and professional education that will equip students for Christian ministry and further studies;

by providing a biblical and theological resource center for the equipping of all Christians;

by providing continuing education for pastors, chaplains, missionaries and other Christians.
